Kids' Art

Enjoy a hands on experience at the 41st Park City Kimball Arts Festival in the Kids’ Art area located at the Kimball Art Center patio. From printmaking, mixed media collage to  tie dye, painting and prizes there are many different activities for all to experience. Let the Kimball Art Center’s Kids’ Art area open your door to creativity! The Kids’ Art area is open Saturday from  9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The cost of Kids’ Art activities goes to support educational programs at the Kimball Art Center including the A.R.T.S. (Academic Resources for Teachers and Students) school tour and outreach program, the Young Artists’ Academy, Art Talks, classes and workshops.

Activities include:

Art Postcard ($3 includes stamp and mailing)
Create your very own artistic postcard with printmaking and mixed media materials.  Write a special note to a friend or family member then mail it away or keep it as your very own unique piece of art.

Face Painting ($3 half/ $5 full)
The Kimball Art Center’s Young Artists’ Academy creates your wildest imagination on your face!  You will be amazed as they paint and add sparkles and you become a piece of art.  We use washable, water based Snazaroo paints.  All proceeds from this activity go to support the Kimball Art Center’s 2010-11 Young Artists’ Academy.

HatRageous! ($9)
Visit HatRageous! with hat artist Laura Mirale to create a one of a kind art hat.  Add many mixed media embellishments such as ribbons, glitter, pom-poms and other miscellaneous art media to create a truly unique hat.

Tie Dye ($10 includes T-shirt)
Learn to dye your very own t-shirt at the Festival. T-shirt artists and volunteers assist children as they help design and tie your shirt in various ways then dip it into colorful dyes and dab on colors.  Unravel it to discover the design and colors you created!

Scavenger Hunt ($1)
Pick up the scavenger hunt questions at the Kids’ Art area ticket table, then as your parents walk the street to check out the 230 artists, answer the questions.  Bring it back to pick out a prize behind unique doors created by the Kimball Art Center’s Young Artists’ Academy.

Andrew Smith’s Water Sculpture ($2 suggested donation)
Back by popular demand is Andrew Smith’s Water Rig. Come cool off in this one-of- kind kinetic water sculpture. Pull levers and push buttons to see where the water comes out!
