SKINET.COM – June 2014

Serving as the primary fundraiser for the Kimball Arts Center each year, this short weekend festival—a community staple—brings Park City to life. With more than 220 exhibiting artists, there is an abundance of work to check out. If that isn’t enough to keep you occupied, you can engage the other senses with live bands, discounted fare from Park City restaurants, and a yoga fest, so you can work on that tree pose. A Publik Gathering Spot

Salt Lake Magazine – April 16, 2014

I’ve bemoaned the lack of coffee shops in Park City for years, but it seems that java aficionados are finally responding to the shortage of flavorful brews. In the past two months alone, three cafes have sprung up, giving a jolt to the underdeveloped coffeehouse community.

Where Publik Coffee Roasters differs is in its daily mantra: “Quality over quantity, community over corporate, planet over profit”—and above all, flavorful, small-batch coffee. Based on that, you could call them a collective brew of javaphiles, artists and scientists. Quite fitting, then, that a ... (read more)

Wasatch Back Student Art Show: What Dreams are Made Of

April 12 – May 25, 2014
Main, Garage and Badami Galleries

The Kimball Art Center offers many educational programs to students across the State, allowing access to the visual arts for over 11,000 Utah youth. Our free A.R.T.S School Tour Program, which pairs the Main Gallery exhibitions with core curriculum subjects, helps students experience and learn about the arts. New this year, the EVA (Elementary Visual Arts) program, in partnership with Park City Education Foundation, has allowed Park City Public Elementary Schools to experience consistent visual arts instruction. In addition, the work of the Young Artists’ Academy, which is comprised of 15 aspiring teen artists, is featured in the Badami Gallery. The Kimball Art Center also offers more than 300 art classes each year to Families, Tots, Kids, Tweens & Teens and Adults.

Students normally gaze at the work of famous artists like Matisse, Maynard Dixon, or Lego© Brick Artist, Nathan Sawaya, and dream of their chance to display their creations. Now proudly showing in the galleries are the dreams, aspirations and hopes of our local youth. The Kimball Art Center is pleased to present the annual Wasatch Back Student Art Show featuring work by student artists in Summit and Wasatch County Schools, grades K – 12. The show incorporates the theme, What Dreams Are Made Of. Each September the Kimball Art Center announces the theme for the year and students have time to create unique pieces of 2 and 3 dimensional art. As you look at this incredible display, remember, as Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” When you leave, remember to follow your dreams and please vote for next year’s theme at our front desk.
