The Exhibit, Ansel Adams: Early Works at Kimball Art Center, sponsored by KSL and Key Bank, has never been shown in Utah and focuses on the masterful small-scale prints made by Adams from 1920’s into the 1950’s. These 50 intimate prints pull back the curtain to show the foundation of Adams’ expertise which lead to the heroic, high-gloss, high-contrast prints manufactured in the 1970s-80s which coincided with the emergence of the first retail galleries devoted to photography.

To heighten the public’s engagement in the exhibition, the Kimball Art Center created My Life, My Landscape Photography Contest, Friday, October 15, 2010 though Wednesday, December 1, 2010. The contest is open to Utah Students grades K – 12. Eligible students may upload one photograph to Kimball Art Center’s online photo gallery to be judged by a panel of professional photographers. This competition hopes to inspire students and educate them about the importance of photography through the 20th century until present day. This contest is made possible by a Project Support Grant from the State of Utah, Division of Arts and Museums.

My Life, My Landscape Photography Contest will culminate on Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a panel of photographers choosing winners in various categories.
