Kimball Art Center | Young Artists' Academy | Ana Cruz

Since I was a little girl I saw I could draw and it made my entire world. I could create unreal objects. Every detail told everyone who I was. When I combine my imagination with colors and objects, it is so relaxing and gorgeous the feeling. I’m not just creating my world, I also create a better world for everyone.

I lived in Mexico City for 15 years. I grew up with a family that always supported me in every sense. They always taught me that the life is never easy, and challenges show you life’s wisdom. They are my friends, who are always there when I need them most.

Then, in December 2008, I traveled to Utah. I live here in this stage of my growth as a woman, and I have found balance in my life. The United States is a country where I have found peace, love, wisdom, friendship and freedom. Studying at Park City High School in the United States is the dream of my life. Being part of the Young Artists’ Academy at the Kimball Art Center brings me great experiences, and the freedom to express myself with everything I have in my hands. What I learned is that it doesn’t matter what your background is. What matters is who you are right now.
