Academic Resources for Teachers and Students (A.R.T.S.)
Educational programming is one of the three core values at the Kimball Art Center. The center, free and open to the public year-round, exhibits over 20 shows each year. With each Main Gallery exhibit, the center creates cross-curriculum programming for teachers to use in grades pre – K through 12. In addition to promoting creative learning for classrooms, the Kimball also offers art talks, lectures, special events and classes for the community.
Scheduling a Tour
The Kimball offers free (excluding transportation) school tours to Summit and Wasatch County Schools thanks to generous funding through grants and donations. Private, public and home school groups are welcome to a 45-minute guided gallery tour and a 45-minute age-appropriate and content-related art project. Tour date and availability are first come, first served and must be reserved at least one week in advance. If you are interested in bringing brown bag lunches to our facility, please notify the Education Director when making your reservation. The Kimball Art Center also offers guided tours for corporate groups (some fees may apply) and after-school programs and clubs. Please contact Jenny Diersen, the Kimball’s Education Director, to schedule a tour today at education@kimballartcenter.org or 435.649.8882 ext. 112.

DIANE TUFT:
Salt Lake Reconsidered
January 31 – March 15, 2009
Main Gallery
In her most recent body of work, Salt Lake Reconsidered, New York based photographer Diane Tuft recorded the results of ultraviolet light on the Great Salt Lake of Utah. Since the Great Salt Lake attracts an unusual amount of ultraviolet light, these images reveal the vivid colors that exist beyond one’s vision. The photographs are completely natural with no alterations in color.
