Receiving my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Utah, I have been a certified PMC (Precious Metal Clay) instructor since 2001. I grew up in Salt Lake City under the tutelage of my mother, who taught various crafts to visually impaired people. My college studies focused on weaving and fiber arts, though I also dabbled in small metals and ceramics as well. I love working with silver clay because it is very malleable and gives immediate results, like earthen clay. Yet it becomes hardened, fine metal after spending a couple of hours in a kiln – jewelry making is a breeze. Lately I have experimented with a new product, BronzClay. Though I have found it’s trickier to work with than PMC, I relish its warm colors and evocative connection to ancient peoples and bronze sculpture.

The job that pays my rent, however, is as Health Educator with Salt Lake Valley Health Department, Injury Prevention Program. There I work with people of all ages, from birth to the elderly, as a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and also as a CarFit Coordinator (encouraging safe driving). I am married to Lloyd, have a daughter and several step-children (all with families of their own) and share a house with a feisty cat named Beouf.
