<p>
<font color="maroon">RELEVANT 2010</font> is a platform for discovery. The residency will place students in the spotlight, through interaction with the public, interviews with film crews and participation in the Opening Night Auction and Gala. The Park City Kimball Arts Festival is rated as one of the top ten festivals in the country. The three-day festival attracts 45,000 attendees and national press, providing students with great exposure and the opportunity to foster relationships with future collectors.</p>
<p>
<font color="maroon">RELEVANT 2010</font> will fund accepted students. expenses including airfare, lodging, meals and a stipend for art supplies. Students will keep 50% of their art sale.</p>
<p>
In conjunction with a completed application, the following must also be submitted...</p>

5 images of your work created within the last two years</li>
<li>
2-minute video answering the question “Why are you RELEVANT?”</li>

$25.00 non-refundable application fee</li>

Students use printing techniques to create postcards, greeting cards and prints perfect for framing. Students use stamps, Styrofoam and their hands to create. Students will get messy in this class, smocks are provided, but please come prepared.</p>

<p>
Join the Visual Art Institute at the Kimball Art Center in Park City for this two-day figure drawing workshop for tweens and teens. Students work from a costumed figure model on the first day, while exploring proportion, shading and fabric textures. The second day, students draw from a model in nude colored colthing to concentrate on proportions and body structure. This is a great class for any high school student looking to work on their college portfolio before they begin to apply in the fall.</p>

Explore ceramics in the studio as you learn about wheel-throwing. Each student gets a chance to throw on the wheel and then work on a simple hand building project. Pieces can be functional or non-functional. Students finish the pieces by adding colored slips and under glazes to color their pieces. Due to drying and firing times, clay will be ready to pick up 10 days after class. An adult or guardian must accompany the child or teen in the class. Class is limited to eight students. Register at least four days in advance to reserve your space in class.</p>

Learn the technical fundamentals of digital photography while exploring exposure. The basics of aperture and shutter speed to more advanced techniques using histograms, exposure compensation and white balance will be explored with an emphasis on outdoor photography. Students will venture outside to explore the beauty of Park City. From drawing historic Main Street on our back patio to going on a small hike to paint the breathtaking views that surround our town, students can work in any drawing or painting media they choose. Please remember to bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen. If weather prevents us from traveling off site, we will work from landscape images at the Kimball Art Center. Class is limited to eight. Register at least four days in advance to reserve your space in class.</p>

Create fun art projects to remind you of your summer and prepare your for the new school year. Students will make pencil holders in the ceramics studio, picture postcards to remember and a tote to carry their lunch in. This is a fun way to end your summer and prepare your students to go back to school. Space is limited. Students should register at least four days in advance to reserve their space in class.</p>

Using non-toxic, water based inks, students have fun exploring the many possibilities for making monotype prints. Learn how to use a small hand operated printing press, and use brushes, sponges and rollers to apply ink. Create designs with leaves, grass, string, rubber, feathers, paper and found objects. Space is limited. Students should register at least four days in advance to reserve their space in class.</p>

Learn to draw landscapes and animals, creatures and characters. Students learn about various landscapes such as mountains, beaches and cities the first two days. The last two days, students learn about making creatures from shapes, designs and textures. Students may go outside for this class to draw Main Street buildings on our patio. Please make sure they wear sunscreen. Space is limited. Students should register at least four days in advance to reserve their space in class.</p>

This class will focus on drawing from photographs and magazine images. Students can draw floers, birds, sports clelbrities and anything that sparks their imagination using pencil, charcoal, pen and pastels. All materials are included during class. </p>
