Emma Johnsonis sixteen years old and has participated in the Young Artists’ Academy for the past three years. Her door, Steampunked, is based on an up-and-coming art movement known as Steampunked.  This movement is influenced by several time periods and artistic mediums including metal work, photography and painting. The subject of Steampunked is New York in the 1930’s and includes a functioning clock. Her mother’s antique stamp collection and her father’s vintage matchbox collection are also included in the piece. As airline pilots traveling the world, Johnson’s mother and father allowed her to use their collected treasures to capture the essence of time and travel.
