Ali Mitchell’s door, Open Heart, was inspired by her life long fascination with Gustav Klimt's style. This was the largest and most challenging piece she has ever created. Mitchell designed the majority of her patterns to avoid copying from Klimt's paintings. As she studied his work in an attempt to create her own, she found there was much more to each pattern than shapes and lines.
