I am currently an undergraduate student studying sculpture at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. During the past two years I have experimented with new mediums such as steel, copper, silver, brass, ink, paint, and paper. Conceptually, I am still developing and excited to see where the rest of my undergraduate degree takes me. I enjoy keeping my format large, creating not only an aesthetically pleasing object, but an object that evokes emotion and has a strong presence. I am influenced and challenged daily by my professors and peers and have also found the capacity to be very patient and intricate in my work. Whether making thousands of fine lines with an X-Acto knife, or laying a long weld, I find a sense of calmness and connection with every piece I make. Working with new mediums, specifically steel, has proven to be a challenge at times. Yet my biggest challenge, and biggest hope, is to create pieces that consume you, as they have with me.
