Park City Collects II

Park City Collets returns to the Kimball Art Center’s Main Gallery after a highly successful run in 2011. Park City Collects II will feature pieces from 12 diverse private collections from around Park City. Curated by former Kimball Exhibitions Director, Erin Linder, the exhibit will bring wonderful works of art from a wide range of time periods, mediums and styles by notable artists from around the world. Everything from photography to painting, ceramics to sculpture, will be explored. Unique pieces from such notable artists as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alvin Gittins, Jeremy Lipking, Javier Pinon, Donald Morris, Henri Matisse, and Annie Leibovitz to name just a few, will be exceptionally on loan.

This exhibit is a unique opportunity to see piece that are typically not available for public viewing. Discover why people in our community collect, how they acquire art, and why the pieces have special meaning to their owners.

A.R.T.S. School Tour & Project

Each A.R.T.S tour for the Park City Collects II exhibit will include a free 45 minute guided tour as well as a 45 minute art project that can be completed at the Kimball Art Center or in schools. In addition supplemental K – 12 lesson plans integrating the arts with core subjects are available online.

In order to reinforce what the students learn about the works on display, students will participate in a hands-on art project in which they will be asked to curate and create their own art gallery. Students will be using small images from past exhibits at the Kimball Art Center and create a 3D diorama that is uniquely to their own taste and style. Projects will go home with students.
