Art Classes
The Kimball Art Center offers over 300 classes a year for students who are ages 1.5 through adults. We offer a wide variety of classes in mediums ranging from Acrylic, Oil and Watercolor Painting, Drawing and Illustration, Digital and Darkroom Photography, Videography (seasonal), Fused and Stained Glass, Mosaics, Ceramics, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Fashion Design, Fabric & Textiles, Sculptural Welding (seasonal), Encaustics, Sculpture, Woodworking and special classes for holidays. Class prices start at $15 and run in length from 1 hour to 8 weeks long, beginning weekly throughout the year. The Kimball Art Center was awarded the Best Art Classes in Salt Lake City in 2009 from Nickelodeon’s Parents Pick Awards and strives to provide the best art classes for all students regardless of age or ability. Instructors – The Kimball Art Center hires local, regional and nationally known artists to instruct all courses. Currently the Kimball works with over 40 teachers a year to provide top quality and unique classes for the community and our visitors.
Tots (Ages 3 – 5/ Pre- School)
Tots’ classes are offered for children ages 3 – 5 and help children develop fine motor skills. Students experiment with color, texture and patterns while building their imagination. A parent or guardian over 18 must accompany their Tots in the class.
Kids ( Ages 6 – 10/ Elementary School)
Kids’ classes are offered for children between the ages of 6 to 10 who want to learn and explore the vast field of visual arts. Students learn new techniques and build up their skills in each class.
Teen & Tween ( Ages 11 – 17/ Middle & High School)
Teen classes are for students who are 11 – 17 years old who want to explore and excel in the arts. In each teen class, the instructor works with students to achieve more advanced projects and learn how to take their artistic skills to the next level.
Family ( All ages – parent/child classes)
Family Classes are for students of all ages. Cross-generational classes are a great way to spend quality time with your family or friends. In each class, students work individually as well as collaboratively with others.
Adults ( Ages 16 +)
Adult classes and workshops are offered over the course of one day to eight weeks and are for beginning to advanced level students. The Kimball Art Center offers a wide variety of both classes and workshops for the busy adult schedule, offering daytime, nighttime and weekend classes at various price points.
Open Studios ( 1. 5 – Adults)
Come in and explore our studios. No instructor is in the classroom for Tot and Children Open Studios, but students are welcome to come and experience the studios with materials included. Students 5 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Adult Open Studios do have instructors to allow students to work on or finish projects from previous classes and instructors will lead demonstrations to give students a taste of the Kimball’s adult classes.
