Main GalleryThe Main Gallery is the Kimball’s primary exhibition space, housing its major exhibits. The gallery features 15 foot ceilings, ample storage space and more than 2400 square feet of open floor space. The Main Gallery can seat 300 people theater style or host a sit down dinner for 175-200. This elegant space is the ideal setting for:

The Perfect Fit: Shoes Tell Stories explores the cultural meaning of shoes, presenting imaginative and provocative objects of every size and medium from clay, metal and fabric to wood, glass and paper. In this show, shoes created by 100 artists from all over the U.S. plus Canada and Israel express more than their role as footwear; they contain multiple meanings that speak to issues of gender, history, sexuality, race and class.

The Perfect Fit: Shoes Tell Stories was organized by Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, Massachusetts, Wendy Tarlow Kaplan, Curator. This exhibition has been made possible through partial funding of the Caroline R. Graboys Fund.

Most people are familiar with Ansel Adams heroic, high-gloss, high-contrast prints manufactured in the 1970s-80s, coinciding with the emergence of the first retail galleries devoted to photography. Much less familiar are the intimate prints, rich in middle tones that Adams crafted earlier in his career. This exhibit focuses on the masterful small-scale prints made by Adams from 1920’s into the 1950’s.
